I've had to come to accept that I will never stand among the other Arknangels as a equal, because I will never be. I was destined to lead- but never to be on the battlefield.

I was destined to be a protector, a kind heart and a guiding hand. To exact my fate bathed in silver. I was to move forward and restore- bring balance to a broken world.

— Ambriel'lahabr'ea

Ambriel, formerly known as Lahabrea, was the former Arkn High Muse of Radiance, Song and Empathy. She was the fifth ArknAngel of the prophecy, described as "A queen, fit to rebel". Raised by The Choir (and unaware of her heritage and destiny), she went on to become the ruler of Paradisium, as well as the prophesied ruler of Riviera (as foretold by Gar'sha).

History

Background

Ambriel was born in an illicit union between Kry'atha and Raziel's daughter, Jos’sephine. After her existence was discovered by Hash'bor'kanibal during a spy mission, her family was sentenced to death by the Arkn Council. When Hash'bor arrived to arrest Jos'sephine, however, he found that she had already bee n killed by an outburst of energy, while the infant child still alive. After telling King Gilgamesh of his findings (and letting him name the child), Hash'bor took the infant to be fostered by a powerful noble magi family. This proved to be ineffective, as The Carver later manipulated the Intoner, Zophiel into attacking the family and killing them during the Paradisium Inquisition. Zophiel took the infant Ambriel, and placed her with the The Choir, to be raised in their care.

Childhood (The Golden Queen)

After this, a contingency plan created by Raziel went into effect. Working with Uriel's support, Raziel was able to get in touch with Ambriel and (though much of her chilldhood was spent in the care of The Choir) arrange to spend time with her during in her formative years. He took her to the wooded seventh level of the Paradisium, where he gave her rudimentary magick lessons in secrecy. While Ambriel would remember little of these lessons, she died

Forbidden Knowledge

As Ambriel came of age, she became known for her beauty and virtue, as well as her voice. She was eventually named High Muse. On her first visit to the Palace, she encountered the Knight Ellpagg. Freshly returned from sparring, and suffering from the pain of a minor injury, Ellpagg was angry and looking for a fight; he attacked Ambriel (even though it was forbidden to harm a Muse), and badly injured her.

Once Ambriel recovered, Raziel once again began giving Ambriel personal lessons, gradually helping her to unlock her true potential (albeit with many fainting spells along the way). She also began taking sword fighting lessons with Uriel, who insisted that she call him by his name rather than "Your Majesty". After a meeting with Azrael (during which Ambriel learned of humans and Earth for the first time), she asked Raziel to take her to visit Earth. He did so the following day, and Ambriel was amazed at the similarities between humans and Arkn. While on Earth, Ambriel broke the rules, revealing her presence by diving in front of a semi truck to save a small child (a "wingless fledgling"). Raphael was outraged when he heard of it, angrily reminding Raziel of "what happens when human and Arkn interact".

On the Day of the Great Calling (a religious holiday, on which Arkn Muses performed a ceremony to the Hethe), Raziel interrupted Ambriel in the midst of her performance and ordered her to stop; he informed her that serving the gods was not her destiny, and invited her to the evening's ball (even though it was forbidden to court a Muse). Ambriel was taken for a makeover with Phobos, the palace stylist, then accompanied Raziel to the ball. As the evening wore on, Raziel eventually revealed the truth of Ambriel's past, as well as the true, sordid history of the Paradisium to her.

Powers and Abilities

Ambriel's Hethian blood granted her massive power and superior magical potential; her power originated from Gar'sha, and granted her the ability of life force manipulation, in the form of control over and generation of plant life (an ability which Raphael, who possessed similar life force manipulation abilities, also demonstrated). Ambriel was effectively Raziel's counterpart, representing the power and primality of magick (in contrast to Raziel's monitored and balanced approach). The most notable demonstration of this occurred when Ambriel's fear unconsciously caused her power to make a tree to grow from the marble steps of the palace during her fight with Zophiel (Book of the Mother). Ambriel also possessed the power of Hethian Words (in the form of a blessing from Gar'sha); however, she rarely used it, as it was extremely destructive.

Despite possessing powerful Hethian Magick, Ambriel was the weakest of the Arkanza, and lacked many of the skills known to the Arkn (such as Telekinesis, Teleporting, and Shadow Control). She was, however, a competent sword fighter, having been trained by Uriel himself.

Appearance

Ambriel was full-figured and short in stature. She had the signature bright blue eyes of the Hethe-blooded (which turned a golden hue after her time in the Infernous), and dark-colored hair. As a Muse, she wore her hair long with gold tips; when she fled the Paradisium, she had Raphael cut her hair short in order to disguise her appearance. Ambriel's most striking feature by far was her wings, which were brown with cream-colored primaries and very large in comparison to other Arkn.

As a member of the Choir, Ambriel initially dressed in simple and modest choral robes. As Queen of the Paradisium, she often wore elaborate, ethereal-looking outfits designed by Phobos, in the colors white, gold, and scarlet.

Notes and Trivia

  • Ambriel was, chronologically speaking, the youngest ArknAngel (barring Chamuel), and was the youngest ArknAngel of prophesy.
  • Ambriel was descended from two Hetha: Gar'sha (via Jos’sephine), and De'ebo (via Kry'atha).
  • Ambriel was the only ArknAngel to rule over two kingdoms, and the only one to end her life as a royal. She was also the only one to be the subject of two prophecies. She also
